There are many varieties of
Cattails. Zone hardiness is 3 for most of the
varieties.
Narrow-leaf Cattail grows 6' tall
and is the tallest of all Cattails making it
perfect for the background in larger ponds. It is
hardy to zone 3. Catkins (flowers) appear in May
and June.
Graceful Cattail is a popular
plant in the species. Small narrow leaves with
dense, lush growing habit. Flowers in May and
June. Hardy to zone 3 also.
Micro-Mini Cattail if the best
selling of all Cattails because it only grows 1
to 2' tall. The 1" catkins sit atop very
narrow blue-green foliage. It is compact in
growth and hardy to zone 3.
Variegated Cattail (Typha
latifolia variegata) Height up to 5ft, spread
running. Prefers full sun and water from 1-6in.
Thin brown catkins above broad strongly
variegated foliage. Bold. Hardy in zones 5-10.
